Steps on How to Replace a Gas Lift in an Officer Chair

1. Prepare the Chair
Remove the Chair Base: Turn the chair upside down. Remove the chair’s base by pulling it off the gas lift.
Remove the Gas Lift: The gas lift is usually press-fitted into both the chair base and the seat mechanism.

2. Remove the Old Gas Lift
Detach from the Base: Use a pipe wrench or adjustable wrench to grip the gas lift cylinder near the base. Twist and pull to remove it. If it’s stuck, apply a little lubricant and let it sit for a few minutes before trying again.
Detach from the Seat Mechanism: Hold the chair seat securely and use the wrench to twist and remove the gas lift from the seat mechanism. Tap gently with the mallet if needed to loosen it.

3. Install the New Gas Lift
Insert into the Seat Mechanism: Place the new gas lift into the hole in the seat mechanism. Ensure it’s securely fitted.
Attach the Base: Place the chair base back onto the gas lift. You may need to apply pressure until it clicks into place.

4. Reassemble and Test the Chair

Upright the Chair: Carefully turn the chair back to its upright position.
Test the Lift: Sit on the chair and test the gas lift mechanism to ensure it’s working properly. Adjust the height and ensure smooth operation.
